Extended Family Photography in Hamilton County Carmel Indiana
One of the most popular type of sessions that I get inquiries for from clients is extended sessions. What I have learned throughout the years is that majority of the photographers that I know and interact with either dislike extended sessions or just completely refuse to do them. After all, it is one of the hardest type of sessions to nail.

Why is that? Because of the amount of children at the session {sometimes as many as 10+}, and typically the ages span from newborns to toddlers and above. The different family dynamics are another factor, and the overall stress of nailing the large group shot.
However, I do believe that extended sessions can be extremely successful, and I will try to post more of these on my blog to show just that. I really want to urge families to get together and document the connections between extended families, because if I am being honest with you, it's something that I, myself, fail to do as often as we should with our own families.

How to have a successful extended session? Go into it not expecting perfect, looking at the camera smiles. Laugh. Roll with the punches. Perfection doesn't exist, and you shouldn't want it to exist in photos because in the end it would mean that it wasn't real. I want to capture the realness of extended sessions, the laughter and love between grandparents and their grandchildren, and also document how quickly time slips on by.

If you are still unsure if you need to book an extended session, I hope that after looking through these images that you are more excited about doing something special for your siblings, parents, grandparents, etc!
